I have run up against a complex problem.
I have used Hierarchical clustering in SPSS (bewteen groups, avg linkage)
to classify aprox 200 cases into groups using 18 variables.
I am now trying to calculate the root mean square standard deviation
(RMSSTD), R-squared (RSQ) and Semi partial R-squared (SPRSQ) from the sums
of squares. This has been shown to help verify the number of clusters to
retain (Frossyniotis et. al. 2005)
How can I get the total and within groups sums of squares of several
differnt clustering outputs (for a 222x18 data matrix, with anywhere from
2-22 clustering solutions).
