How to change decimal seperator? 1,5 into 1.5?

Stephan Golla
Hello,
I am running SPSS 11.5 and wonder how to change the decimal seperator.
Currently it is i.e. 1,5 but I need 1.5  . The option I found deals only
with currencies and this seperator obstacles the data transfer to MPlus.
Thanks for your help.

While there are more choices in newer versions of SPSS, what you are seeing is that SPSS uses the decimal delimiter of your locale (country/language), which, of course, is a comma for you.

You can change this in two ways.  The first would be to change your Windows user locale (via the Control Panel) to English or another locale where the decimal symbol is a period.

Another way, if you are referring to data values, would be to change the variable format from F (Numeric in the Data Editor), which is locale sensitive to a Custom Currency format (CCA - CCE) and define the decimal for that explicitly.  You can define the CCs in Edit/Options/Data or using the SET command.

In SPSS 12.0.1 or later, there is a SET LOCALE command that makes this workaround unnecessary.
