Hi Mbaye,
Can you think of computing of a composite variable from the exisiting two? If you can, you can use something as below:
DATASET ACTIVATE DataSet0.
*** do compute the composite variable eg. adding the two ( you know better how they relate!)
compute Var3 = var1 + var2.
execute.
*** determine the median value
FREQUENCIES VARIABLES=Var3
/NTILES=2
/ORDER=ANALYSIS.
*** once you know the split spoint, try recoding into two groups like this
IF (Slno <= 11) GroupVar=Slno <= 11.
EXECUTE.
RECODE Slno (1 thru 11=1) (ELSE=2) INTO groupVar.
EXECUTE.

Subject: How to createtwo groups using median split?
Dear all,
I intend to use
median split samples in order to perform multiple group analysis later. I have two variables (experience and frequence) measured by with 4- points scales. I want to have two groups (high and low familiarity). Do you have some syntaxe that can do this? Your comments and help will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Mbaye.
