Question: What SPSS output statistic would you use to judge the
importance of a variable?
Background:
Hierarchical regression.
Six predictor variables entered one at a time.
To determine the importance of each variable, I have used the square of
the part correlation to determine the unique variance when all sex
variables have been entered into the model (last step). Commonality
analysis with six variables to determine how much variance is shared
between the predictor variables seems a long winded procedure for
determining the importance of each variable.
What about beta?
What are others using?
