I am Using SPSS v23. I know when a particular task is done by menu drive options a syntax is generated in output file. And if we want to repeat that task over different variable/repeated times we can use that syntax. While coming to do one task that is adding file comments to the file, I generally do it by "Data file comments" option under "utilities" menu. When I do this, only the syntax below is appearing for any comments I want to add. * Data File Comments. PRESERVE. I can't able to add file comments by this syntax. I tried different trails by the above syntax, But works None. Any clue of why we can't able to do that. And ... Can some one please help me on how we can add data file comments by syntax? Situation : I normally run a syntax file for labels and do some data checks before I sending the file to my clients. But for one specific client the file comments are important and they are very particular about it. But sometime I am missing it. There will be no problem if I can write a syntax for adding data file comments.(Because every time I will run the label syntax file before I sending as mentioned earlier). Please let me know how can we solve this. Very Thanks in Advance. |
You can use the DOCUMENT or ADD DOCUMENT command. The menu item pastes syntax like this, but just ADD DOCUMENT is sufficient. PRESERVE. SET PRINT OFF. ADD DOCUMENT 'this is a test'. DISPLAY DOCUMENTS. RESTORE. If you want to add comments directly to the Viewer by syntax, check out the TEXT extension command. On Fri, Jan 5, 2018 at 2:03 PM, venkatesh gandi <[hidden email]> wrote:
