IBM SPSS Predictive Analytics Community News - new extensions, new site, and other news

Jon K Peck
The new IBM SPSS Predictive Analytics Community at https://developer.ibm.com/predictiveanalytics/has replaced the old SPSS Community at www.ibm.com/developerworks/spssdevcentral.  The new community is a complete redesign.  Most of the material from the old community has been migrated, but not all the extension commands have been transferred yet.  The within-product extension commands downloads feature that is available in Statistics 22 and 23 goes to the old collection, which is up to date.

The old forums have been migrated to https://developer.ibm.com/predictiveanalytics/forums/ or click Ask a Question on the front page of the site.  The old forums are locked but will remain available for some time.  There are still usability enhancements being worked on, but we think you will like the new site.  Check it out.

There is a Downloads section on the front page, and there is a link to fixpacks for all the SPSS products in it.  The fixpack for V23 that was just released has its own item on the site front page.

Four new Statistics extension commands for Bayesian analysis have been posted to the Extension Commands collection (still on the old site) at
https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/community/files/app?lang=en#/collection/23c2eac7-e524-4393-a4b9-0d224a2a0eda.  With Statistics 22 or later, they can be installed from the Utilities menu.

They provide Bayesian methods for t tests, ANOVA, Regression, and independence tests in crosstabs/contingency tables.  There is a blog post on the new site that provides some introductory information on their use.  They require the R Essentials.  You can follow the site downloads page to find a link to the Essentials or go directly here
