"Important" Windows update causing loss of SPSS preferences, recent file lists, etc.?

EDIT (12-Apr-2017):  I omitted the word "update" in the original subject line.

Windows installed 9 "important" updates on my computer today (see list below), and some of them required a restart of the computer.  After the restart, I launched SPSS, and found that it was behaving like a new install.  The recently used files lists were empty, the font in the syntax editor had gone back to the default, etc.  I speculate that one (or more) of the Windows updates installed today caused this.  Has anyone else experienced this?

Here are the details about my SPSS version, OS and the Windows updates.

SPSS 24 (Windows, 64-bit)
OS:  Windows 7 Professional, SP1

I have not heard of this, but I can speculate.  My guess is that the security update changed some privilege and prevented the stored settings for Statistics that are kept in the Windows Registry under the HKLM hive  from being accessed.  This might  depend on whether your Windows account or the account under which Statistics was installed had admin rights and other security settings.

I expect, though, that changing your preference settings would work and that recent files would start to populate again.

Hi Jon.  I can confirm that recent file lists are re-populating and my changes to font settings etc. are persisting when I exit and restart SPSS.  My user account is an Administrator account; but the university IT folks also have an account on the machine, and may have done something funny without my knowledge.
