Importing value labels from excel

Does anyone know whether it is possible to import value labels created in an excel document into SPSS? For example, if I have data in Excel and have 3 options for a question. The options may be yes=1, No=1, Somewhat=3. Is there a way to pull it into SPSS so that the ‘value labels’ are recognized without having to manually enter this into SPSS?

 It appears that you want to import value labels, although before you
wrote  variable labels. Importing value labels can be done in the same
way as I mentioned before.
Another way to do the same thing is in python.
