I am not familiar with CONFIRMIT at all. But is there an easy way to export a data file from CONFIRMIT into SPSS? Thank you very much in advance. Zachary |

GOOGLE IS YOUR FRIEND!!!
"CONFIRMIT file format" Search Result: http://www.ask.com/web?l=dis&o=15555&qsrc=2873&q=CONFIRMIT%20file%20format Including: https://support.confirmit.com/scripts/customer.exe?_sf=0&custSessionKey=&customerLang=no&action=viewKbEntry&id=273 Looks like their developers need to plunge into the SPSSIO32.DLL (ASCII + Syntax is so knuckle dragging) "Question What files types will I receive when I choose SPSS format from the Data Export menu? Answer The new SPSS Export will generate two files, one as a fixed-width ASCII file and the other as a SPSS syntax file (with extension.sps), not as a .sav file. A .sav file can easily be made by saving the fixed width ASCII file on C:\temp on your computer, then opening the syntax file in SPSS and running the script. This is done by highlighting all the syntax in the file (press CTRL-A) then run current from the menu in the Syntax Editor Program. The file will now be saved with extension .sav. In v15, we have also added the option to export directly to the .sav spss format type from confirmit, if you don't want to do the conversion in spss, this can then be directly loaded into spss for use. Please note that in order to include the value labels from single and grid questions, the field width must not exceed 8 characters. This means that if some variable names given in confirmit are larger than that, they have to be truncated. Fields widths can be defined under properties for each question. Be sure to recompile your project once all modifications are finished. More detailed information about SPSS exports can be found in the User Manual (v16) chapter 25.3.2.5. Step 2 when the Export Format is SPSS SPS/DAT or SAV." --
