I've found Python most useful as a more intuitive replacement for the
macro syntax for automatic code generation. If you want to do
on-the-fly code generation in SPSS, Python may be worth learning.
Python is a very transferable skill and therefore may be worth learning
for its own sake.

I am fairly knowledgeable in syntax. Under what conditions would it
advisable to invest the time to learn Python? Will it someday replace
the .sps file workhorse? Thanks
