I’m using the (old) Graph command to run some scatterplot graphs and (I’m sure!) I’ve used this since 25.1 went up and the plotting parameters has completely changed—to pretty much render the functioning to be useless. The problems are
these: The chart size is 5.2x8.9 (HxW), previous default size was smaller. Grid lines are now shown but weren’t previously. I absolutely agree that every one of my complaints can be fixed by editing the chart. However, I’m wanting to look at 40 or 50 of these and I am not interested in editing each one. Can this problem be fixed? These scatterplot graphs are useful for looking at plots of variable pairs. The work overhead is shockingly less than any other graphing command. The most important improvement to them would be able to specify a regression line functional
form (which I agree can be done in the chart editor but why!) Gene Maguin |
You can set the chart template to your liking and it will be applied to all
graphs you thenceforth generate, see https://andrewpwheeler.wordpress.com/2012/01/03/hacking-the-default-spss-chart-template/. Here is a link to my V25 version, https://www.dropbox.com/s/9dbyuk35ssxd3km/V25_ChartStyle.sgt?dl=0. That makes it a white background and generates light-grey dashed grid lines. It shouldn't change the default size though, I'd have to look at that. ----- Andy W [hidden email] http://andrewpwheeler.wordpress.com/ -- Sent from: http://spssx-discussion.1045642.n5.nabble.com/ ===================== To manage your subscription to SPSSX-L, send a message to [hidden email] (not to SPSSX-L), with no body text except the command. Thank you, Andy.
A question (I've never used chart templates--there was never an apparent need): do the chart templates apply to all charts, regardless of the originating procedure/command? I notice your example shows a ggraph/gpl example. It applies to all charts. You may be able to set the default chart stuff in
GUI that you want as well without resorting to a template, but I am not sure.
