Hi Listers,

 

I am using MRSETS to create two multiple response variables, $STORES and $QUALITY.

 

A list of stores that are rated in three different places is created using…

MRSETS /MCGROUP NAME=$STORES LABEL='Store Used' VARIABLES=Q1_1 Q2_1 Q4_1.

 

Ratings (Excellent-Poor 5-pt scales) for each of those three positions (a unique store is rated in each case) is created using…

MRSETS /MCGROUP NAME=$QUALITY LABEL='Quality Rating' VARIABLES=Q6_1_1 Q6_1_2 Q6_1_3.

 

Percentages are no problem using…

CTABLES /FORMAT EMPTY=ZERO MISSING='-'/TABLE $QUALITY [COLPCT.RESPONSES] BY $STORES.

 

But I cannot generate a similar table outputting means, as in…

CTABLES /FORMAT EMPTY=ZERO MISSING='-' /TABLE $QUALITY [S] [MEAN F8.2] BY $STORES.

 

…because I get this error:

TABLE: Variable $QUALITY. The MEAN statistic is valid only for scale variables and totals of numeric categorical variables.

Even though $QUALITY is based on scaled variables, this is not possible?
