MSE=0

Alina Sheyman-3
Hi all,
 I'm doing a two-way anova in SPSS (using the General Linear Model option).
Accoring to my output MSE=0, thus no F-values get calculated. Any idea why
this is happening? Can this be due to small sample sizes?

Re: MSE=0

Dale Glaser
If your MSE = 0 (which is highly unusual) it would indicate no within-subject variation....e.g, making up a two group example with n = 3 for each group).........

  Grp  DV
  1      2
  1      2
  1      2
  2      4
  2      4
  2      4

so first of all, is that the structure of your data?..if so, you need to see if it is a data entry error as to why a constant (or close to boundary condition) has been entered within each group.........or is it some structure of the design?
