Hi Jon, I’ve successfully downloaded and installed v25 with python to replace my prior v24 without python (haven’t used python before, but have read the intro). I’m a bit lost at the point of installing the files you sent. From Extension > Custom Dialog Builder for Extension - when I’m in the Dialog Builder (haven’t used that before), I don’t see File > New > Data with Cases. (either in the Dialog Builder window or the main SPSS windows) and clicking on “Install” brings up an error. I did place the .py where you mentioned, but I’m unsure what to do with the makedata.spd file. Can you give me some additional hints here? Best, Jeff |
Jeff,
Hopefully this will be helpful because Jon sent me the files as well. In SPSS, go to Extensions->Utilities->Install Custom Dialogue(Compatibility Mode). When I did this, it took me directly to my Downloads folder with the Makedata.spd. Do not use the Custom Dialogue Builder.
For the python file, I simply downloaded it and moved it to my Python folder. For me the path is Program Files->IBM->SPSS->Statistics->25->Python->Lib->Site Packages. That's a lot and may not be the same or as
involved as this.

That did it. There was just one step missing in Jon’s instructions.
