Mauchly's test of sphericity

vickygri
Hi, I am running some tests for my work.

I am doing my work on gender differences in leadership.
So I am using 2x2 mixed ANOVA. I go to SPSS...
The within-subject factor is Leadership Style variable with 2 levels
(Controlling, Influencing). The independent variable is a nominal level variable
(male, female).

This is what I get:
Mauchly's W = 1.000
Approx. Chi-Square = .000
df = 0
Sig. = .

What is the problem? Or what test and how should I use?
Thank you.

Take a look at Thom Baguley's nice note on sphericity, and pay attention to the "Complications" section, which discusses the case where there are only two levels for a repeated measures factor.

With only two levels of the repeated measures, there is only one covariance so the covariance can't be different for different pairs. There is only one.
