Dear all,
I want to merge my two SPSS datafiles (of course both files are saved in different filenames). The two datafiles have different set of variables, except the one being the reference variable (name_of_persons). In addition, the cases(subjects) in file1 are just subset of the cases in file2. That is, the number of cases in file2 exceeds the number of cases in file1, but all names listed in file1 are also there in file2. I tried to merge it using spss but it was not successful since spss requires same order of cases in both datafiles. Your suggestions are highly solicited. Thanks. If you sort both files on the common variable and match using the /BY
subcommand, the files do not need to have completely matching sets of cases. ----- Original Message ----- From: "John Amora" <[hidden email]> To: <[hidden email]> Sent: Thursday, January 24, 2008 6:57 PM Subject: Merging files > Dear all, > > I want to merge my two SPSS datafiles (of course both > files are saved in different filenames).
