Merging variables while adding new ones

choehibel
Hello.

I have a data set and I am trying to merge another dataset by adding variables to it. However, my new data set that I am adding to it also has some of the same variables that I want to be updated into the new data set. How is this possible? I can't add new cases because the new cases end up updating existing variables while creating NEW cases.

Does this make sense?

Essentially I am trying to find a way to add variables and update existing ones.

Help is so appreciated!!!!

Have you looked at the UPDATE command?
