Moving the location of variable using syntax

Kawashima-Ginsberg, Kei

Dear listers;

I would like to look at two variables side by side in the data view for some visual inspection and I am wondering if there is  a simple way to move a variable in one location (e.g., variable row # 1200) to another (e.g., location #650).  The numbers I’m listing here is arbitrary and just refers to the number in the left-side column corresponding to the variables I want to move.  Thanks in advance for your help!

You can split the view (as in spreadsheets) and independently scroll each view. Using add files physically reorders the variables in the file and make break existing syntax if the TO convention has been used to specify spans of variables. The UI to split has changed between releases so use Help to find out how in your version. Search for pane or splitter.
