Hi -
I have a question regarding the use of multidimensional scaling. I have conducted an MDS in SPSS using a distance matrix from an existing set of data (15 items). I now have a new set of data that contains the original distance matrix + 3 more items (so an 18-item distance matrix). I want to get the positions of the 3 new items in the context of the original 15 that was done. I know how to do this using other graphing methods such as Correspondence Analysis (in CA, I would reference the 3 items as supplemental); is there a way to do this using MDS? Thanks. Brandon L. Brandon,
The variable "zq721a1m4" is used twice. It appears the second time it was intended to be changed to "zq721a2m4". Good luck with your analyses, Jim On Nov 2, 2007 11:00 AM, Brandon Paris <[hidden email]> wrote: > Hi - > > I have a question regarding the use of multidimensional scaling. Good morning list.
Suppose you already have the solution to the 15 items. And now you want to add three more. In PROXSCAL you can use the fixed coordinates restriction to fix the coordinates of the 15 items, and then estimate the remaining three. Good luck, Frank. Develloper and programmer of PROXSCAL. --------------------------------------------- Frank M.T.A.
