Multinomial regression in SPSS (interaction)

Anna Alon
Hello, I need help interpreting interaction for multinomial logistic regression. Coefficients are below.

The way I have interpreted the main effect: lower resources then more likely to be in this group; lower nationalism then more likely to be in this group.  Not sure about interaction.

Resources -14.061
Nationalism -0.569
Resources*Nationalism  3.702

Thank you. Anna

Re: Multinomial regression in SPSS (interaction)

Yang, Hongwei
Here is my understanding:
1. To interpret a main effect of one predictor, you need to fixed all other predictors at zero. Here, you need to fix the other predictor at zero. Also, you probably need to center the two predictors to be able to interpret the model effects in a meaningful way.
2. The interaction is typically interpreted as the extent to which one predictor moderates the relationship between the DV and the other predictor.
