Multiple Imputation error:"At least one of the vectors or matrices in the model being added is different in size"

Ray Petren
Hello,

I am attempting to examine descriptive statistics for a multiple imputation data set. Although this function is supported for multiple imputation in SPSS, the pooled data is not produced and the following error message appears: "At least one of the vectors or matrices in the model being added is different in size from the corresponding vector or matrix in previously added models. This model cannot be added." Are there any ideas or suggestions about this problem?

Thanks!

Hi Ray,

This is likely to be a long shot, but does your Descriptives output include any missing parameters for any of the individual imputed data sets?

I received this error a few years ago in version 18.0.0 when using the GENLIN procedure. It was due to the fact that my model did not include a Scale parameter so it had an empty standard error cell, and hence the multiple imputation pooling failed as it could not pool the missing cells. It was apparently fixed in 18.0.1. The only workaround in the meantime was to calculate the pooled estimates manually using Rubin's rules. For summary statistics you could maybe try another procedure (Frequencies, Means, etc) and see what happens.

Kylie.
