Multiple versions of SPSS

Adrian J. Connolly
I've also had no such problems running SPSS13 and 16 from the same machine.

John Lemon is quite correct about being able to run SPSS12 and 16 from

the same machine. Here at the University of Sheffield we are doing

SPSS12 and SPSS 15 for the whole of the Open Access Machines, which

gives added complexity. You are fortunate that your old copy is SPSS 12,

with version 13 this would not be true due to licensing changes.

Re: Multiple versions of SPSS

Eric Zylstra
It seems the key is to--as many have said in this thread--install in a separate directory (at least in Windows).  I was deceived by the fact that, while both versions were installed into C:\Program Files\SPSS, there _were_ separate directories named "SPSS 15" and "SPSS 16".

It seems a trivial programming issue to get the installer to do the install into separate directories by default.  Always install to separate directories.  If the user intended to use two versions, then it works.  If they didn't, it still works.  A win for the customer both ways.
