Negative Binomial regression

NomiW
Hello,
I'm trying to run a negative binomial regression to predict number of hospitalizations (over dispersed data).
I'm not sure if my code should specify NEGBIN(MLE) or the default NEGBIN(1). When I try NEGBIN(MLE) I get an error message stating that 'There are no valid cases for the log link function. Only the iteration history is displayed'.
Help please!

I think NEGBIN(1) is an unfortunate default. I haven't seen a situation where you wouldn't want to estimate the dispersion term from the data.

Can you provide a reproducible example for the error? I wouldn't think it has anything to do with the NEGBIN(MLE) vs NEGBIN(1) option.
