Dear list,
I have run a principal components analysis using oblique rotation, but the
items on 2 of my 4 extracted factors all have negative loadings. I don't
understand what this mean exactly and how it has happened. My items are all
positive keyed and all positively associated with each other. But the SPSS
component correlation matrix tells me that some of the 4 factors are
negatively correlated with each other. Also, when I score the items to
produce the 4 factor scores then run a pearsons correlation, the factors are
positively correlated. Is there a simple explanation for this as I don't
quite follow.
Many thanks!
K
