Helau (usual greeting during carnival in Duesseldorf),
in the past the new version MacOS X 10.5 (Leopard) made the new SPSS-version
16.0.0 unusable. SPSS 16.0.1 fixed the problem. We upgraded to MacOS X
10.5.1: Now SPSS 16.0.1 fails: after starting and doing nothing SPSS crashes
spontaneously without any error message, but therefore the version 16.0.0
runs without any problem.
So, if you run the leopard use either SPSS 16.0.0 with MacOS X 10.5.1 or
SPSS 16.0.1 with MacOS X 10.5, but not both upgrades together!
We reported our observations to SPSS. I think, there will be soon a patch.
