That would depend on whether there are multiple factors identified (according to some criterion) or do you only have one factor but some items that don’t load highly on that factor.

Hello All,
I'm Deb; just joined last night and am already amazed at all the SPSS expertise and interest. I'm finishing my doctoral dissertation at Trident U (used to be Touro). It's all online so that's challenging when you run into a wall and can't raise your hand and ask a question. I'm so frustrated with SPSS and keep ordering books, webinars, etc. to find answers.
For example, I have SPSS 21 and 1100 online surveys completed. 116 variables; some transformed for analysis. I'm doing scale reliability (9 scales); no problem. I just did the first factor analysis and it shows I should delete some of the items.
I can't find this answer--should I delete the items indicated by CFA from any further analysis, then redo the scale reliability tests and move on from there?
Sorry if this is too basic. I'd appreciate any help from this forum, suggestions on other resources, etc.
Thanks!
Deb
