Hello! I am new to this group and am looking for some friendly support.
I have a specific task I am trying to figure involving frequencies. I appreciate any advice! Set up: We have a data set that includes responses to an intake form. All data is usable in SPSS (using version 16.0). For the purposes of this task: We have three variables (reason_1, reason_2, and reason_3) that indicate to our staff why the student came to the office. Each reason is coded 1-28, each representing a specific issue. If student A had three issues reason_1 is coded with the first issue, reason_2 the second, and so on. Question: I want to determine the frequencies of each issue, combined in one frequency table. Problem: I do not know how to get SPSS to look in each of the three columns (variables) to pull a total. I've tried to combine all three into one new variable with no success. Any help? Thanks, Tiffany Tiffany L. This is a classical multiple response setup. Look in the help for multiple
response. You can define a multiple response group and tabulate with Tables or the Chart Builder. If you don't have the Tables option, you can still tabulate it with the very old MULT RESPONSE command (syntax only). -----Original Message----- From: SPSSX(r) Discussion [mailto:[hidden email]] On Behalf Of Hedges, Tiffany Sent: Thursday, July 31, 2008 1:36 PM To: [hidden email] Subject: Novice user inquiry Hello!
