Hi, I’m running Win7 64-bit and an ODBC
string that worked fine in XP generates this error: >Warning. Command name: GET

mismatch between the Driver and Application I
am looking on the Microsoft site for drivers but no luck thus far. Regards, Bob Walker Surveys & Forecasts, LLC |

A search of both Win7 and SPSS KB’s indicates that Microsoft
does not provide a 64-bit ODBC driver for MS Office, so at this time there is
no resolution to this problem. So we have a 64-bit OS, and 64-bit SPSS, and no
way to import an MS Access database. Amazing… From: SPSSX(r) Discussion

This seems odd. I'm running both 64 bit Win 7 & SPSS. Win 7 comes equipped with the ODBC drivers for excel, dbase & MS access. The SPSS data pack provides additional drivers. Can you provide both your syntax & the error code?

I was interested in this issue because I import a lot of Access databases
(mostly at work where we use Win XP). At home I use Win 7 64 bit & SPSS 18. So I tried it at home and I found out I'm not able to import an Access database... I used the database wizard, but when I click on MS Access-database I need to login (?) with a password (?). I can't just click on ok, because then I see the same error message text as Bob Walker. So if there is a solution, I'm very very very interested. I believe this may be a Microsoft issue rather than SPSS. I opened the Win 7 64 bt ODBC manager & tried to configure the MS access driver & the OS returned an error message saying the driver needed to be reinstalled. I also tried this on a Win 7 64 bit machine that did not have SPSS installed & the same error message. I then tried the above on an XP (both 32 & 64 bit) machine and had success in opening the MS access driver. So I cannot confirm it, but in just trying to access the MS access driver from the operating system's ODBC manager caused failure independent of SPSS.

I did a little search today after reading David's anwer.
I read on Microsoft.com that there is a 64-bit ODBC-driver: --- A 64-bit version of the Microsoft Windows operating system includes the following versions of the Microsoft Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) Data Source Administrator tool (Odbcad32.exe): The 32-bit version of the Odbcad32.exe file is located in the %systemdrive%\Windows\SysWoW64 folder. The 64-bit version of the Odbcad32.exe file is located in the %systemdrive%\Windows\System32 folder. --- When I open the 64-bit version and configure the Access driver I see the same error message as David, but the 32-bit version doesn't show an error. So, might it be possible to use the 32-bit OCDB-driver with SPSS 18 64-bit?
