Hello – I am running into this error when I open SPSS
v12.0.2. Evidently this is a well known issue. I found the
following: Problem Description: I am running SPSS
for Windows on a Windows 2000 or Windows XP machine. [I am using Windows
7] When I launch the application while logged-in as a user account, I
receive the following alert: Resolution Subject: Please see the
following resolution Resolution Description: Product(s) Affected:
My issue is that the link given in #3 does not work any
longer. If anyone has this 63635.zip (or its contents), please send my
way (off-list). Or if there is another solution, I would be much
appreciative. Thanks. Peter |
Recently had the exact same problem with Windows XP and SPSS V15. What happened was I was prepping the transfer to a new analysts account, and IT did not assign him the same folder permissions as I had haggled my way into over the years. It only occurred though when I ran a production job though, not just using an interactive session.
I forget what type of access I needed, I think (but am not 100% sure) I needed both read and write access to where SPSS is installed. I think I also needed access to other locations (maybe even to the registry) - sorry can't remember all of the details. But it was definitely a problem with user access to certain locations on the machine. |
Thanks Andy. Yes, it is an access issue.
So, for completeness, this seemed to work on Windows 7, SPSS v12.0.2: Computer--> Right click OS --> Properties --> Security --> Advanced --> Change Permissions --> Users --> Edit --> Full Control Friendly Disclaimer: If you are at a workplace, make sure you have permission to do this. I'm not sure if this affects security of your computer (in the process of finding this out). If it does, your company/IT probably won't like this solution very much.
