OT: Needed-Windows Versions of Unix BSD programs eqn, pic, grap, and related troff/psroff progs

Mike
Sorry for the off-topic post but I was thinking that maybe
someone on the list (especially old-timers) might be able
to help me.  I have several manuscripts that I wrote long
ago whileI had access to a Sun workstation and use layout
coding for a Postscript version of troff (psroff; roff=run off
or print). They are all text files but I had used some progs/filters
toinsert equations (via eqn), figures and graphs (pic, grap),
and maybe one of two other things (tbl's layout can be
easily converted into Word's text to table conversion).

I've looked around and found some versions but can't
determine how good/malware-free they are.  MKS had
made a suite of Unix system utilities long ago but I can't
determine whether they have eqn, grap, pic, etc, available
for Windows.

So, if anyone can recommend/suggest a good Windows
version of theseprograms, please let me know.  The most
critical one is eqn which I had used to format equations
(and I don't really want to learn LaTex or a new equation
editor). It would nice to have grap and pic for some flowcharts,
etc., but not as critical.

TIA

Googling on this topic is not encouraging.  There appears to be an ancient groff available from the gnu site, but I don't know what it includes.  One glimmer of hope is that Win 10 includes an optional bash shell and Unix subsystem that might be able to run the Unix code.  I expect, though, that the apps would need to be rebuilt.  That could be a quagmire.

I used to have the MKS Toolkit for Windows, but I parted ways with them years ago when my version stopped running on my Windows version, and their upgrade pricing became completely unreasonable.  They are owned by somebody else now (PTC), but you could ask what they support.  My guess is that the Win 10 Unix support has been bad for their business.

Re: OT: Needed-Windows Versions of Unix BSD programs eqn, pic, grap, and related troff/psroff progs

Mike
Jon,
Many thanks for the info even though it appears to confirm the negative
impression I have developed.  I will keep looking (have not checked the
gnu site).  I might find some old programs that I may be still be able to
run (I managed to put together the pieces of the Harvard Graphics
program in order to recover some *.CHT files I created for papers in
the stone age).  Eqn is really the critical one, I can re-build the graphic
images in other programs.  Thanks again.
