This is OT.
I have files or folders that could be up to .7 Gigabytes. That are too large to email. Do any of the list members have recommendations for "drop box" websites?

Hi Art,
I haven't had to look into these types of services in a while (anybody remember Xdrive?) because NYU uses Gmail and Google provides unlimited storage in the could. However, I did a search for article that summarize key features of cloud-based storage service and you might want to take a look at the following (they're in no particular order): http://www.adweek.com/socialtimes/top-15-free-online-file-storage-sites-2/118251 http://www.networkworld.com/article/2932962/cloud-storage/19-free-cloud-storage-options.html http://www.1mtb.com/top-10-best-free-online-cloud-storage-services/ The last article is interesting for two reasons: (1) It has a suggested service that is now crossed (strikethrough font) and has a note saying the security of information on service was somewhat iffy, a consideration that did not come to mind (at least for me because I thought that such services would make sure files stored in the cloud would be secure) and (2) There are two Chinese cloud services (#9 and #10) that offer free storage in the terabyte range. If you feel comfortable about using a Chinese service, then one of these might be for you (they are Tencent Weiyun and Qihoo 360 Yunpan). Then again, if you're dealing with data that reveals the location of nuclear missiles in the U.S. and elsewhere, you might not want to use any storage service, just zip/pack/reduce that file and triple encrypt it. Note that if you refer a friend to Dropbox, they up your storage limit to 18 Gigabytes -- you might consider getting their free 2 Gig account and then refer a friend to get the upgrade.
