Odd csv read message

Maguin, Eugene

I’m reading a csv file via get data and I’m getting this message on multiple string variables.

Variable: Lab2Status         Type: String  Format : A36        One or more values were truncated.

So yes, there is record with an A36 string in the csv file but it is not truncated in the spss data file.

On the other hand there is also an A8 field but I do not receive that same message.

Seems odd. What could be happening?

I would have to see the file to know for sure, but one possibility is that a code page file is being converted to Unicode, which could take more bytes.  Just a guess.
