I occasionally experience odd mouse behavior when working in the syntax
window and just curious if anyone else has experienced this... Right now, I cannot use the mouse to place the cursor nor to highlight specific text. What does happen, is that it wants to ONLY highlight entire rows of text (depending on how many rows I am moving the mouse). I am pretty sure it is not a mouse technical issue because I have never experienced this in other software programs. The mouse seems to work just fine when hovering or selecting syntax menu items or navigation pane items, and so seems limited to just the syntax text area. Mouse works fine in the Output window. This happens maybe 10% of the days I use SPSS, but I use SPSS most every day. The only work around I've found is to close and then re-open SPSS (not just the syntax window), and this usually works, but often will occur again. This never happens when I first open SPSS (by opening a syntax file), but apparently only after running some syntax. This behavior persists across other syntax windows too, and keyboard shortcuts work just fine (e.g., Shift + End to highlight cursor to end of line) when I'm experiencing this odd behavior. I believe this started when upgrading to SPSS v26.0.0.0 in 2019 (and thought it would go away after updating to 26.0.0.1, but still happens). I am running this on Windows 10, 64 bit. -- Sent from: http://spssx-discussion.1045642.n5.nabble.com/ ===================== To manage your subscription to SPSSX-L, send a message to [hidden email] (not to SPSSX-L), with no body text except the command. I haven’t experienced this problem. I suspect a problem with the mouse - maybe it just needs cleaning. While other windows or apps don’t show the problem, that isn’t conclusive, since the SE has a number of unique behaviors including double and triple clicking selection. If you have another mouse around, swapping it would be a good test. Throwing the mouse against the wall is not recommended. Thanks, Jon. I just might try the wall trick. ;-)
FYI, this has been happening on my mouse at work and now that I'm working from home, it also is happening on my house mouse. -- Sent from: http://spssx-discussion.1045642.n5.nabble.com/ ===================== To manage your subscription to SPSSX-L, send a message to [hidden email] (not to SPSSX-L), with no body text except the command.
