Hello all.
I'd like to determine the necessary sample size in the means and proportion hypothesis test for errors or risks sizes "alpha" and "beta" fixed beforehand, through the SPSS interface. I don't understand the question. Where you say "sample size in the means", do you mean you want to compute a sample size estimate for a t-test (or ANOVA)? And where you say "proportion hypothesis test", sample size for a chi-square test, perhaps? Please be more specific about what you want.
HTH.

Ok, I want apologize for not having made myself clear. Where I say "?
sample size in the means", I mean I want to compute a sample size estimate for a t-test. And I when I say "? proportion hypothesis test" I am referring to the fact when we make approximation of the Binomial distribution to the Normal Distribution. To get what you want via the GUI, I suspect you need SPSS SamplePower (http://www-142.ibm.com/software/products/us/en/spss-samplepower/), and it's probably not part of your license. That website shows there is a trial download, so you could try that.
Alternatively, there are lots of online calculators, such as this one: http://homepage.stat.uiowa.edu/~rlenth/Power/ HTH.

Rubier:
You can also try a very nice (and free) stand-alone program called MorePower. http://homepage.usask.ca/~jic956/work/MorePower.html Regards, Marta GG El 22/11/2012 23:55, Rubier Perez escribió: > Ok.
