Hi, Eins.
Googling will quickly give you answers. Below are quotes
from that: I hope they help.
The "corrected model" effect reflects the
variation in the dependent attributed to other effects (except the intercept) in
the model, after corrected by the mean.
The ratio of effect sums of squares and error sums of squares is what was used in testing the significance of each effect. Eta-squared is the proportion of the total
variability in the dependent variable accounted for by the variation in the
independent variable. (Total implies "over all variables of interest)
By observation, corrected total = total - intercept Best Wishes,
Martin Holt

There are two ways to find the meaning of terms in the SPSS output. For "corrected model", for example, activate the table by double clicking and right click on the term. You will generally see a definition. Alternatively, look at the algorithms document for the procedure. HTH, Jon Peck SPSS, an IBM Company [hidden email] 312-651-3435

You've had a couple other responses, but I'll throw mine in too. I think the issue here is that SPSS uses terminology that is a bit different than is found in most textbooks (at least those used for stats courses in psychology & other social sciences). SPSS Typical textbook description corrected model between-cells error within-cells corrected total total SS(total) sum of squared scores The "correction" in the SS(corrected total) is subtraction of the grand mean from each score before squaring. So SS(corrected total) = the sum of the squared deviations about the grand mean, which as noted above is simply called SS(Total) in most textbooks. HTH.
