Pasting from xls in SPSS 16.0.1 MAC

Vincent Mallet
Is there a way to paste columns from xls to SPSS? It seems to work
only with rows?

The following options should work with most versions of SPSS:

a) Read the .XLS into SPSS and then use VARSTOCASES to transpose it.
or
b) Transpose in XLS first (Use Edit/Copy to select the portion you want
to convert then Edit/Paste/Transpose to paste it into a new spreadsheet)

Option A handles it all in syntax if this is a reoccuring task.
Option B is simpler if this is a one time issue.
