Dear Friends,
I have two annoying SPSS 15 problems: Errors in Output file are in German (everything else is in English) and Window Installer is called when I want to generate any graphic output. I've re-installed SPSS 15, but the problems remained. Has anyone seen anything like this? Any help will be appreciated. Hi Stephen,
Use the following command to see what locale the system is set to: SHOW LOCALE . See if the locale is set to something other than US english. If that is the case, use the follwing command to set the locale such that the messages in the output will be in english. To change the locale, use the following command: SET LOCALE = "en_US" . Cheers, Jason. If your SPSS output language is set to German, all the output text should be in German. SET OLANG=English or the equivalent in Edit/Options would clear this up.
If only error text is in German, that suggests that the error message file(s), mainly spss.err, in the en\windows subdirectory of your SPSS installation is the German version. I don't know how that could have happened, but you might look to see whether the English one is in some other language subdirectory. On my system, the size of the English spss.err is 668160. All the others are slightly different: 671744 Nov 9 2006 ./de/windows/spss.err 668160 Nov 22 2006 ./en/windows/spss.err 671232 Nov 9 2006 ./es/windows/spss.err 673280 Nov 9 2006 ./fr/windows/spss.err 671232 Nov 9 2006 ./it/windows/spss.err 592896 Nov 9 2006 ./ja/windows/spss.err 663552 Sep 7 2006 ./ko/windows/spss.err 677376 Sep 7 2006 ./pl/windows/spss.err 669696 Sep 7 2006 ./ru/windows/spss.err 656384 Nov 9 2006 ./zh_cn/windows/spss.err 657408 Sep 7 2006 ./zh_tw/windows/spss.err If you can't find the English one, contact SPSS Technical Support to see if they can help.
