Where can I read about SPSS processing time?
I know to sort as little as possible, but any other tips? e.g. complicated if's better than more if's or do ifs? |
Hello. I will be out of the office until Tuesday, 7/9. I will do my best to respond to you upon my return.

On the Books and Articles page in the SPSS
Community website (www.ibm.com/developerworks/spssdevcentral)
there is a link to a Best Practices article on performance.
If you want to benchmark alternative versions of a job, you might want the STATS BENCHMRK extension command. It runs multiple versions of a job several times and generates an SPSS-readable dataset with various resource usage measurements. This is really for spss. We're putting 21 on and the website lists multiple patches and the text is not specific about which one to use. 21 is being installed as a stand alone progam, not part of a client-server setup. One candidate patch says Statistics and python essentials. Another patch is Statistics Client. Which one? Gene Maguin

It looks like there's a patch for SPSS v. 21 which upgrades the program to
v. 21.0.0.1. "Statistics Client" is for the standalone work station. You can refine your search for SPSS fixes by the following method (there may be other routes but this works for me): 1. Go the IBM SPSS Support Portal: https://www-947.ibm.com/account/userservices/jsp/login.jsp?persistPage=true& page=/support/entry/myportal/Downloads&PD-REFERER=none&error= 2. Enter your IBM ID and password. 3. On the Downloads page in the "Downloads and fixes" section, click: View SPSS Statistics fixes. 4. In the "Refine my fix list" click the pull down menus to select the version fix level (21.0.0.1) and your operating system (e.g., Windows, 64-bit, x86) 5. On the "Select fixes" page, click the box to select the v. 21 fix. Then click "Continue". 6. On the Download files using Download Director click Download now. NOTE: If you need to setup or change the download option, click "Download options" on the right. elle -----Original Message----- From: SPSSX(r) Discussion [mailto:[hidden email]] On Behalf Of Maguin, Eugene Sent: Wednesday, July 03, 2013 4:22 AM To: [hidden email] Subject: Which 21 patch?
