Hello,
I seem to be having problems getting the SPSS Complex samples add-on to run correctly. Only some of the complex samples programs work. For example, general linear model and logistic regression (under the complex samples tab) seem to work. I enter my analysis plan and click continue and an additional box pops up to do the analysis. However, frequencies, descriptives, and crosstabs (also under the complex samples tab) do NOT work. I click on these and specify my analysis plan then click continue and nothing happens...no analysis box pops up. How can I fix this? Am I doing something wrong? I'd appreciate any help. Thanks, Rochelle |

Hi all, Is it a known issue that
SPSS Statistics 17 has serious memory issues when handling large tables in the
viewer? Is there a patch to resolve these issues? I was working with a set of
tables that I developed with Custom Tables which consist of 100 rows and 18
columns. Additionally, these tables are layered by two variables where one
layer variable is nested in the other. This table structure is relatively large
resulting in 4 tables with 100 rows and 18 columns each. Nevertheless, I never
had problems before with releases previous to the SPSS Statistics series. The
memory issue became so dramatic that it would take up to 30 minutes just to
open a table and select a different layer. When I checked the Windows Task
Administrator the SPSS Statistics process reached a peak of 700MB in memory
usage making it impossible to do anything else. What should have been a matter
of minutes to handle these tables resulted in 5 hours of work. I would greatly
appreciate any suggestions on how to resolve this. Thanks in advance, Vito Palligas |

Hi Vito, I discussed your message with one
of our Development Quality Assurance staff. A bug report had already been filed
for this problem and it is expected to be fixed for SPSS 18 later this year.
Unfortunately, we don’t have a workaround at this time. David Matheson SPSS Statistical Support ************************************* From: SPSSX(r)

A (vaguely) related question.
Are there any plans to make SPSS 18 (and future
releases) compatible with Windows XP 64-bit? I'm sure I can't be
the only VistaPhobic out there.
Thanks

You’re certainly not the only one,
Garry. Plenty of us around. And I hope there will be support for
Windows XP in SPSS 18. On the other hand, MS seems to be planning the release
of the next Windows version for the end of this year, isn’t it? Hector From: SPSSX(r)

While we acknowledge the concerns regarding Vista, we have no plans of making a version of available for Windows XP Pro 64 bit. Microsoft is in the process of phasing out support for the Windows XP operating system and that affects the viability of vendors like ourselves developing and supporting products for it. We will continue to support the 32 bit version of XP with version 18 of SPSS Statistics.
Regards.
