Besides the documentation that is installed with the R Plug-In, the new edition of Programming and Data Management for SPSS Statistics 17 has just been made available in pdf form, and it includes tutorial-style examples for R. Follow the link in the lower right corner of the Developer Central main page (www.spss.com/devcentral). (The link still says SPSS 16, but it goes to the new edition.)
