It seems that file handle is "sticky for a session". One workaround is to highlight the rest of the syntax rather than running it all. The message about redefining the file handle is a warning, not an error. It is harmless and has no effect on the result. Just ignore it. (Coincidentally, I have recently filed a request to get rid of this warning message entirely.)
