There is a also a great and free program called TextWrangler, that has
many advanced features for searching, replacing and restructuring data. It can also handle absurdly large text files without blinking an eye. -----Original Message----- From: SPSSX(r) Discussion [mailto:[hidden email]] On Behalf Of Siraj Ur-rehman Sent: Monday, June 19, 2006 12:09 PM To: [hidden email] Subject: Re: Go To Specific Line You can Bookmark in TextPad which is very nice tool when you have a very long syntax and its helping me a lot. If you prefer line numbers, one option is to use Notepad or some other text editor (e.g., TextPad has a "go to line #" function) as your syntax editor. Syntax files are simply text files with a SPS extension. A full-powered text editor like TextPad has many other capabilities that the syntax editor lacks. -- Tom -----Original Message----- From: SPSSX(r) Discussion [mailto:[hidden email]]On Behalf Of Justin Black Sent: Friday, June 16, 2006 4:19 PM To: [hidden email] Subject: Go To Specific Line Does anyone know if there's a "Go To Specific Line" function in the Syntax Editor window (v13 or v14) analagous to CTRL+G in Notepad? So, say I have a syntax file with 10,000 lines, and I want to "jump" to line 3500... To drift off topic
slightly, one important feature possessed by TextPad and likely by others,
but missing from the syntax editor, is the ability to limit search &
replace to a block of selected text. As far as I've discovered, the syntax
editor insists on replacing every instance in the file.
