Hello. I can’t seem to get Task Scheduler to run SPSS’s utility file. I’ve tested the .sps fil by itself, it runs. I’ve run the production file (.spj) interactively, and it runs. I’m using SPSS v22 and Windows 10. The problem is when I incorporate the utility file with Task Scheduler. Task scheduler give me a message that the task was completed successfully, but the expected output is never produced. I think the problem lies in Task Scheduler’s
Actions tab. Under settings, I have the following: Program/script: "C:\Program Files\IBM\SPSS\Statistics\22\stats.exe" “Add arguments”: (I’ve tried both) "P:\Reports\Yvonne Montejano\SPSS Production Files\Batch Files.Master_Joins.spj"-production
"P:\Reports\Yvonne Montejano\SPSS Production Files\Batch Files.Master_Joins.spj" My SPSS utility file is called Master_Joins.spj Your help is appreciated! Yvonne |
You need to put this as the command in the Task Scheduler: "C:\Program Files\IBM\SPSS\Statistics\22\stats.exe" "fully qualified name of the production file.spj" –production –i The fully qualified name has to be the complete path ( e.g. c:\folder\file.spj ) and in quotes; I have also found that it helps not to have spaces in the file name. The –production
is needed and the –I is as well if the run doesn’t work without it. It is a number of years since I got this to work and it ran daily for years; I just had to change the SPSS version !! Best Wishes John S. Lemon Emeritus Computing Advisor Please note I retired from the University on 30th June 2014

Hi John, Thanks so much for responding. I tried your suggestion, but I get the following message: “an unknown switch is specified on the command line: -production-I” There are similar messages with v23, but I’m still in V22. Any ideas?
