Jonathon,
These both sound like settings in the Edit-->Options command. For the
labeling, click the "Output Labels" tab and change the Variables in item
labels under Outline Labeling and Pivot Table Labeling.
For the second, under the General Tab (lower right side), uncheck the
"Raise viewer window" under "Notification".

Dear LISTERS,
I am after a script to set the Outline and Pivot Table Labelling to
LABELS (see the 'OUTPUT LABELS' tab on the menu EDIT > OPTIONS).
I am also interested to know if there is a script that will turn off the
output window and/or save the output file to a specified location - so
that it doesn't keep interjecting into my view when I am trying to use
other applications.
