I, too, would be interested in the syntax coloring - SAS does a good
(enough) job with this and I find it quite helpful in programming there.
Currently if I am looking for this functionality for SPSS programs I use
UltraEdit - however there are limitations to the capability there (e.g.,
color codes only on the word, not the placement of the word in syntax).

Perhaps if enough users are interested in this, it might be considered for a
future release.

I would like to -
1-Colour code data columns in the data editor 2-Colour code syntax.
Syntax can be coloured in external text editors but when pasted into SPSS
Syntax Editor all colour & fonts are removed.

Is there a way around this ? Any suggestions ?

I too would like to add my vote for syntax coloring.  I currently use
EditPlus (with good results, including running syntax), but it would be
nice to do everything in SPSS.
