Re: What does "Missing - system" mean in "Frequency" - SPSS

Antoon Smulders
Hello Danka & Julie

A guess: do your data come from Excel? Do you have some (26 to be precise) empty lines at the bottom of the file?
(You should see dots in the numeric fields, but you may miss them easily).

Good luck
Antoon Smulders

Onderwerp: What does "Missing - system" mean in "Frequency" - SPSS

All our data has been cleaned and we have checked the "data view" numerous
times for errors and missing data, but no such errors are occuring.

We simply don't understand why SPSS still claims that there are 26 "Missing-
System - Frequency" when we are making the "Analyze-Descriptive
Statistics-Frequencies..."

We include a picture for better understanding of our question.

We hope that you will be able to shed some light on to our problem.

Regards

Danka&Julie

Melissa Ives
To check what records have the missing data...
Run the following syntax.

Temporary.
Select if sysmis(missing variable name).
List var IDvariable othervarlist.

Then you can see if Antoon is correct that you have missing rows of data (which seems  likely).
