Re: how to choose suitable statistical methods

Ruoyin Luo
Dear listers:

I am newer of the group. Thank you.

I can't say I am 100% new user for SPSS. But i think I am still very green in it. I have a question to ask.

I am dealing with a database. Generally, variables are as following:

7 Independent variables:
          A: numerical, interval;
          B: numerical, binary categorical;
          C: numerical, binary categorical;
          D: numerical, binary categorical;
          E: numerical, interval;
          F: numerical, interval;
          G: numerical, interval;

2 optional grouping variable:
         H: numerical ,nominal (binary group)
         or
         I: numerical ,nominal (8 subgroupsb)

5 dependent variables:
        J: numerical, interval
        K: numerical, interval
        L: numerical, interval
       M:numerical, binary categorical; (the occurrence of death)
       N: numerical, interval (days to death)

M and N are survival data.

Would anybody like to tell me what kind statiostical method i need to use please? I have check some reference books even ask some statistian' advice. They've adviced me to treat dependent variavle as individual variable. To analysis the relationship between each individual variable and all relevant independent variables respectively.
Furthermore, due to my covariates include categorical and scale, GLM is not very much suitable to analyse numerical interval dependent variable. Cox regression is suitable for survival data, am I correct?

 I wish i explained my difficuties clearly. Any advices, comments, questions and points are very appreciated.

Thank you all

Best regards
Sabrina
