Re: loading CSV file with a lot of question marks

Matt Ward-3
I am attempting to load a CSV file in SPSS 16. There are around 59 variables
and at the moment around 70 cases, however end result will be around 500+
results.

Initially, when loaded, the data view in SPSS is filled in with a heap of
question marks (?). Then over time, they start to fill themselves in
gradually, however very slowly. An example of would be a set of say 40
cases, taking between 5-10minutes to fill in, which is crazy.

This exact same approach worked flawlessly in SPSS 15, however the client is
using v16.

Any ideas? As I can't unearth anything from my investigations.

Many thanks.

Hi Matt

Can you provide/post a sample of the data you are trying to load,and the
syntax you generate to load it, and I will try to simulate the error on my
version 17/see if there is any solution.

Regards

Clive
