Re: spss 16 output

Graham,
I'm not sure you can call it an oversight, since it was announced in all
the documentation and most upgrades are not expected to be
forward-compatible (old versions can open new files).  For me, the
bigger problem is that it is not backward-compatible (16 can't open
pre-16 output) which most upgrade are expected to be.

Melissa, this is why the Legacy Viewer was included for free on the SPSS 16 CD.  It will allow you to open v15 and below output files.
