Report-outfile Command Question

FernandezLanier, Adriana (DCJS)

Good morning. I have a question on behalf of a friend that we can’t figure out. She is running the report command with an “outfile” subcommand. The command was originally throwing out cases but she thought she figured it out:

“I figured it out -

REPORT FEATURE NOTE:  When using the outfile command, also change the format command to LIST or it throws out cases!

   ex.    FORMAT= list / outfile= 'H:\Forensics\BITS\LOFTS Data\Sept22_2010_Snapshot\outpatients100u_run100510_snap092210.txt'. “

However, even with the command above she is still losing cases and we can’t figure it out.  Any suggestions or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, AFL

Re: Report-outfile Command Question

can you cobble up a small example that shows the problem you are talking about.

something like the syntax below with the data made up to be similar to your data, and the REPORT command changed to show what the problem is.

data list list/id (f2) a b c d e (5f1).
begin data
01 1 2 3 4 5
02 5 4 3 2 1
03 2 3 4 5 1
04 3 4 5 1 2
05 4 5 1 2 3
06 5 1 2 3 4
end data.
missing values a to e (5).
REPORT FORMAT= list / outfile='c:\users\art\desktop\test.txt'
  /TITLE=RIGHT 'Page )PAGE'
  /VARIABLES a (VALUES) (RIGHT) (OFFSET(0)) (8)
    b (VALUES) (RIGHT) (OFFSET(0)) (8)
    c (VALUES) (RIGHT) (OFFSET(0)) (8)
    d (VALUES) (RIGHT) (OFFSET(0)) (8)
    e (VALUES) (RIGHT) (OFFSET(0)) (8) .
